Even with windy conditions all weekend long, the COD Men’s Golf team won the 2011 CCCAA Southern Regional Championship this past weekend.

“Going in, I wanted to be able to get 3rd or 2nd place, winning 1st is also great too,” said coach Tony Manzoni. The team came out with 379-377 strokes, a total of 756 strokes beating Glendale by 9 strokes and Long Beach by 14. COD’s Andrew Perez scored an even par of 144 (68-76) strokes earning him the Medalist honors.

“The whole team looked great and I knew they would do great,” Manzoni said.

“They came out with a slim lead but I was excited that they came back even better.”

The Roadrunners now look to shine at the State Championships this Saturday in Hanford, Calif. “I feel good going in, and I want the team to come out 1st in the state championship.”
