E! News anchor Giuliana Rancic provides inspiration to college students.

Giuliana Rancic, E! news lead anchor, is a true example of what could be possible through getting a college education. Though she faced many struggles, the journalist continued on the path toward her dreams and eventually achieved them. She landed her dream job at E! network, overcame breast cancer, and had a child despite infertility issues. For people in pursuit of their dreams, Giuliana is inspirational.
Born in Naples, Italy, Aug. 17, 1975, Giuliana came to this country as a child without knowing the English language. Watching the news at a young age helped her to learn English. This also inspired her to become a news anchor. She had severe scoliosis during her youth leading up to her teenage years. Rancic had reconstructive surgery to correct her posture, according to E! True Hollywood Story..
After highschool, she enrolled in the University of Maryland and received her B.A. degree in Journalism. Directly after that, she went on to receive her masters degree in Journalism from American University.
“I was probably a ‘B’ student in high school,” said Rancic,” but it wasn’t until I got into college that I said oh! This is what its all about. Then I became an ‘A’ student. I studied Journalism in college and that’s what really kicked it into high gear for me.”
Within one week of receiving her masters degree, she got on a plane and went to L.A. taking a menial job. She worked her way to the top of that company, before auditioning for E! networks‘ E! news.
She initially faired poor on the audition, asking a celebrity a very personal, almost inappropriate, question. “If you know me, you know that nothing embarrasses me. Anything could happen to me on live television, and I sincerely don’t care.”
Months went by and she finally got a call back from the network. What she thought her biggest flaw, her quirky personality, suddenly became her biggest asset. “You don’t have to be the prettiest to become the best, and what I don’t like about myself now is what’s actually going to set me apart from everyone later and help me land my dream job!” she told seventeen magazine.com. The producers at the network wanted a fresh overhaul to the show and Giuliana was the one for the job.
She worked for E! news for less then a year when she met her husband, Bill Rancic. Life must have seemed perfect for Giuliana since she got out of college. She was an accomplished anchor woman on what is now the most popular entertainment show among young adults. She authored two books, had a reality show documenting her life, found her perfect match, founded fitfabfun, and had hosted numerous award shows. Challenges would arise for the young journalist.
The diagnoses of breast cancer, a miscarriage, and other infertility issues would plague the star. Thanks to the help of her family, doctors, advances in medicine, and knowledge, she has overcome them all.
Through the trials and tribulations she has faced, her education helped her not only develop her skills as a journalist, but also helped her develop a discipline that causes endurance in the face of adversity.
She has turned each of these trying experiences into a triumph by maintaining a positive attitude. Giuliana said, “We really believe that whatever we put our minds to, we can achieve.”
