After losing to Citrus College during the Homecoming game, the Roadrunners returned to the field to play against El Camino College on October, 20, 2012. College of the Desert brought home the win, with a final score of 49-39.
“We just had some blown assignments, we need to get those errors fixed and then we could definitely be a deadly team,” said defensive end Rafael Lamas about the Citrus game.
The team had to re-establish a rhythm after their game against Orange Coast College left them with several benched players. Anthony Burrell, offensive lineman, injured his medial collateral ligament. Nephi Garcia, running back and key player earlier this season, is also out as he rests an injured wrist.
However, that did not stop the team from playing throughout the game with a lot of energy. Wide receiver Vanzell Richardson was able to score a 26-yard touchdown with only 32 seconds left in the second quarter. Jathyell Gutierrez, running back, also scored a 23-yard touchdown with 1:28 left in the last quarter.
This win was much needed for the Roadrunners. They now stand at 3-4 for the season.
