The organization, Partnership and Community Education (PACE) is offering classes for security guard training along with programs that lead to certification. They offer three training sessions each 8 hours long. Session starts at 8 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. One session is required in order to receive the basic card. Further training is required in order to move on to the next level. Sessions will begin on Saturday March 1 through March 29.
The first session, “Powers of Arrest, Weapons of Mass Destruction” educates individuals on the basics concerning arresting potential suspects.
The second session pertains to public relations, observation, and documentation. The last session involves liability, legal aspects, and the significance of communication, this session will be held on March 22.
The price for one training session is $159, and $450 for attending all three.. There will be an additional fee for a live scan fingerprint. The security guard training sessions will be ongoing and continue to train students after March 29.
The security guard skills training course follows the 2880 penal code and meet California, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services, requirements.
Annessa Diaz, Senior assistant officer at (PACE) said, “Students do not have to be a registered student at COD, in order to enroll in the Security Guard training courses.”
There is a $50 fee to apply, you must be 18 years or older, and must go through a criminal background check through the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
