On Wednesday, October 15, College of the Desert will be hosting its annual University Transfer Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on campus at the Hilb Building. Students thinking about transferring can meet with CSU, UC, and independent university representatives to determine their higher education goals.
The COD University Transfer Fair has been helping students plan their future for nine years now, providing an opportunity to gather information and compare notes on various programs offered at many California colleges, and some out-of-state. This year, the transfer fair will feature representatives from over 40 university campuses.
“The transfer fair is a great opportunity for students to be exposed to various universities and explore all the majors the schools have to offer. This event is not only for students planning to transfer next fall but for all students who may consider transferring. It is important for students to plan ahead and start early for transfer preparation,” stated Transfer Center Coordinator and Counselor Veronica Daut.
There are important dates and application deadlines approaching that students should take notice of: CSU applications are to be submitted October 1 – November 30, UC applications are due November 1 – 30, and Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) is only offered through September 30. By participating in a TAG program, students will receive early review of their academic records, early admission notification, and specific guidance about major preparation and general education coursework.
In addition, the Transfer Center will be holding workshops later this semester and has a Facebook page that reminds students of important dates and outreach from other campuses at www.facebook.com/CollegeoftheDesertTransferCenter.
