With a flat and fast course that will give many experienced half-marathoners a chance to set personal record times, the New Balance Palm Desert Half Marathon, Relay and 5k Run and Walk takes runners through the streets. More than 1,600 runners crossed the finish line in both the half marathon and 5k combined at last years race, with more than 1,100 of those finishers competing in the half marathon alone.

After 17 years, the New Balance Palm Springs ½ Marathon and 5k is moving to the city of Palm Desert. This year, they’re bringing back “Fitness Weekend”, where you will get the opportunity to participate in the Tour de Palm Springs bike ride on Saturday, and the ½ marathon or 5k on Sunday, and receive the coveted “brick” award.

While they will be changing the location and course, you will still expect the same attention to detail and event quality you’ve been expecting for the last 17 years. With the change in course, there will be some changes from previous years as to how the relay works. However, they will continue to have both 2 and 3 person relay teams. The event coordinators are currently working with the City of Palm Desert to finalize the course maps.

The event will still be walker and dog friendly. Also at the event they will be adding some new features, including a more competitive runner friendly course and expanded post-race festivities. Which includes more food options and a beer garden presented by Coachella Valley Brewing Company.
