2017 seems to have flown by and all that is left are the countdowns for Christmas and New Years Eve. If you do not already have plans for New Years, keep on reading, because New Years will be bringing its magic right to the heart of Palm Springs.

Spa Resort Casino will be holding a free outdoor Block Party starting at 8 p.m. Music is provided by DJ Dense, drinks are available at the Bar Garden, local restaurants and booths will be welcoming attendees and there is even a Kid Zone. If you really want a sparkly New Years Eve, you can enjoy the midnight fireworks. But before you countdown into 2018, you can see the Plain White T’s live at the Block Party. Tickets vary from $35 to $100 as the concert starts at 10:30 p.m.

Why not celebrate New Years twice in one day? The Living Desert will have an East coast countdown at 9pm during their Mildly Wild New Year’s Eve Celebration. For $125 per person, you can enjoy a scrumptious dinner, an evening full of live entertainment and dancing and a champagne toast.  The event starts at 6 p.m. on Dec. 31.
If you are more of a stay-at-home type don’t worry! You can curl up on the couch with some hot chocolate and enjoy the following New Year’s movies:
  • New Year’s Eve
  • Happy New Year
  • Trading Places
  • Rudolph’s Shiny New Year
  • New Year’s Evil
  • New Year’s day
Or watch the countdown live on ABC with Ryan Seacrest in “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’, or CNN in “New Year’s Eve Live”  with Anderson Cooper And Andy Cohen.
Of course New Years Eve is not complete without drinks to get you in the right party mood. Delish.com provides easy to make holiday drinks and these are our favorites:

Champagne is definitely a must, but you can now spice up your bubbly by combining it into a champagne margarita! All you need are the following ingredients:

  • 1/2 c. fresh lime juice
  • 1 c. silver tequila
  • 1/2 c. orange liquer
  • 1 bottle champagne (about 3 cups)
  • lime wedges, for rim
  • salt, for rim

Add the lime juice, tequila, orange liquor and champagne together and stir it well. Run the lime around the rim of each champagne flute and dip it in coarse salt. Pour the drinks in and dress it up by placing the lime wedges on the rim.

If you are planning on getting the most out of your night, this easy-to-make Vodka-Espresso Cocktail may be for you.

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 oz. premium vodka (or tequila, if you prefer)
  • 1 oz. cold espresso
  • ½ oz. Tia Maria
  • ½ oz. Kahlúa Especial

Pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake and strain into a martini glass (or three shot glasses).

The Chaparral wishes everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
