Arts Tank Greater Palm Springs promotes creative talent

The California Desert Arts Council CDAC) introduces the 2018 Arts Tank Greater Palm Springs, a new funding platform for unique, innovative and public accessible art-based initiatives. Arts Tank is a Shark-Tank-like program that is inviting creative people from all areas of art to pitching big impact art ideas for the Coachella Valley.

CDAC’s goal is to provide new, innovative and public accessible art projects, similar to those of Desert X, to attract tourism, address concerns of a particular community and engage all residents and visitors in the Coachella Valley. CEO of CDAC Christi Salamone says, “Arts Tank encourages innovation in the arts and ultimately benefits everybody who visits and lives in the Coachella Valley.” Arts Tank is a new creative program to hit the Palm Springs area. The mission is to unify, empower and promote art in the region.

The CDAC established an art fund in support to seek funds from stakeholders, philanthropists and grant-giving organizations. This new program delivers educational components through the engagement of workshops and coaching on a professional level to help those who participate to articulate their ideas and fine-tune their budgets as well as helping participants gain creative and professional skills that they will use throughout their career.

Applicants can submit an arts-based project, event, product, installation or simply an idea that is innovative, accessible and has a strategic purpose. Judges will be looking for ideas that help stimulate cultural tourism, address a concern from a particular area of the community and engage a broad spectrum of residents and visitors. CDAC welcomes pitches from individuals, groups and organizations.

To apply for Arts Tank Greater Palm Springs go to to fill and submit the application online. Artists from all mediums are encouraged to apply. The deadline is Aug. 15, 2018. Those who apply will be notified of their status by Sept. 15, 2018. Judges representing local stakeholders will then screen applicants and select finalists to participate in a workshop to help shape their presentations for the live Arts Tank event in Oct 2018 at a venue soon to be announced.
