COD’s women’s golf team opened their season in Ventura this week, with a tournament featuring a day one scrimmage at the Olivas Links Golf Course (par-72), and a day two round at Buenaventura Golf Course (par-72).

The Roadrunners had four golfers represent COD in the tournament; sophomores Natalie Brugler, Zoe Walker, and Vivica Garcia as well as freshman Emma Sorenson. Brugler would earn a 7th place finish on day two after shooting a two-over 74 at Buenaventura, while Walker would lead the Roadrunners in overall score, including a four-over 76 on day two.

The season’s opening tournament brought its share of competition, as the 2016 and 2017 CCCAA State Champions, Rocklin and Santa Barbara City, were present as well as six Western State Conference teams. The Roadrunners were the only PCAC team in the tournament.

COD finished 4th overall and improved upon their 2017 showing over the two-day tournament, finishing with 674 points, only three strokes behind third-place finisher Santa Barbara City.

The Roadrunners will host the Desert Classic at Tahquitz Creek this weekend, with first round action beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, August 31st and the final round on Saturday, Sept. 1.
