How nice would it be to find a job that will work around your school schedule, without any restraints or complications? College of the Desert students have access to work and internship opportunities through the Career and Workforce Solutions Center (CWSC) on the Palm Desert campus.

The center offers jobs opening and guidance for students searching for opportunities that works with their school schedule. Robert St. Juliana, the director of the center, said thousands of students benefit each month from the center’s services including counseling, job events, workshops as well as many online resources.

“One of the great things about our career center is that students have access to the majority of our resources 24/7, so working on a resume, applying to jobs on our COD Job Hub, seeking resources or professional development resources can be done anywhere, anytime,” said Juliana. A calendar of workshops and events is posted on campus and available online at Career Workforce Solutions Center. “Additionally, we give classroom and EDGE new student presentations about our services and how students can utilize us while they are here.  We also rely on our faculty to help share our resources with their students, so they are allowed to maximize their experience while attending COD,” Juliana said.

Juliana has worked at career centers in various colleges over the years. “Although students and locations change, the nature of the work remains the same and I have been able to draw on my previous experiences to help build our new Career Workforce Solutions Center.”

Once Juliana reached College of the Desert, he began to help build the center in May 2017. Juliana loves this field of work, and the rewarding experience it brings to see students and graduates investing themselves and how it has paid off.

The center helps students find the job or internship that best fits their schedule and needs. “Each of our students has a unique path that comes with its own set of challenges and obstacles. It is a pleasure to be around our students who are striving to better themselves and our employers who see so much talent in our students and graduates. I could not be happier that the CWSC is able to be the bridge between our students and employers to make connections that lead to lasting and fulfilling careers in the areas that our employers want and need.”

The job opportunities vary from library jobs to social media workers. There seems to be something for everyone. If you are interested in finding a job or want more information about the Career and Workforce Solutions Center visit
