On the “Day of the Dead,” hundreds of runners from throughout Southern California will come together for an evening of music, art, remembrance and celebration. In honor of the Day of the Dead, Coachella’s annual “Run with Los Muertos” will return for the 3rd year. Join hundreds of runners and thousands of spectators from throughout the country at this unique health and cultural event in downtown Coachella. You can run on your own, or with a team. The runners honor their muerto, or loved ones who have died.
“Run with Los Muertos,” promises to be visually appealing, culturally enriching, physically engaging, and spiritually uplifting. The first 150 people to sign up will have the name of their loved one included on the limited edition T-shirt designed by Date Farmers.
The event will feature 5k art viewing opportunities, live music, neon lights, burning candles, painted faces, on course entertainment, a Los Muertos procession. The 3rd Annual Run with Los Muertos is a night of fun in historic Downtown Coachella. Who will you run for?
“What we saw last year was a lot of people running for the first time. They really took to heart the whole scene and culture of the holiday,” race organizer Tizoc DeAztlan told the Desert Sun. This year, organizers added a fitness program leading up to the race as a way to prepare runners for the 5k run and to promote long-term health benefits in Coachella. The program, known as the “Por Vida” campaign, allowed runners to set personalized goals and to take a series of tests, including body mass index and blood pressure. Join Dr. Nicole Ortiz and Dr. Brian Myers for their six week training program designed to get you to the finish line! You will receive free health and nutrition counseling that will help you prepare for the run. Challenge yourself alongside Jonathan Oaxaca of Univision Palm Springs. Bring a friend or make some new ones. “Por Vida” will be held for six weeks on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. at various locations throughout the Coachella Valley For more information and to register visit the website: www.runwithlosmuertos.com.
