The 2023 MLB All-Star break occurred from July 7, 2023, till July 11, 2023. During the 5-day break, there are many different events held throughout the week, like a celebrity softball game, Home Run Derby, and the All-Star game. The All-Star break occurs during the halfway point of the regular season and has been a thing since the first one on July 6,1933. The game was played at Comiskey Park in Chicago and was started by a man named Arch Ward. The initial thought of the all-star game was for it to be a one-time event, but it would grow in popularity and be something that we see in today’s game, along with other events throughout the week. As for the game’s score, the A.L. All-Stars would win with a score of 4-2. The game would last 2 hours and 5 minutes, with there being an attendance of 47,595.
This year’s 2023 MLB All-Star Break will take place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington, home of the Seattle Mariners. This would be the third year that Seattle would be hosting, as their first would happen in 1979 and the second in 2001. The 2023 Mlb All-Star week would cost Seattle $6 Million in venues, city service, and staff.
The 2023 All-Star game will be played on July 11, 2023. The National League All-Stars are going up against the American League All-Stars. Both teams would have very respected players participating in their League, with some of the most notable players being Shohei Ohtani, Luis Arraez, Juan Soto, Justin Verlander, Fernando Tatis Jr., Pete Alonso, and so many more superstars. The game would attract a total of 47,159 fans. The game’s final score would be 3-2 National League, with the MVP going to Colorado Rockies Cather Elias Diaz. Diaz would hit a game-changing 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, giving the NL a 3-2 lead.
Along with the All-Star game was the Home Run Derby. This would have a total of eight batters participating. The Home Run Derby would take place the day before the All-Star Game. The eight participants for this year’s Derby were New York Mets’ Pete Alonso, Los Angeles Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, Baltimore Orioles Adley Rutschman, Chicago White Sox, Luis Roberts Jr., Seattle Mariners Julio Rodriguez, Tampa Bay Rays Randy Arozarena, Toronto Blue Jays Vladimir Guerrero Jr.and Texas Rangers Adolis Garcia.
The Derby would consist of 3 separate rounds, with all rounds being a 1v1 to advance to the next round. The match-up for round one would be Luis Roberts Jr. vs. Adly Rutschman. Luis would hit a total of 28, and Adly would have a total of 27, making Luis advance to round 2. The next matchup would be Adolis Garcia vs. Randy Arozarena. Adolis would have a total of 17, and Randy would have 24, advancing Randy to face off against Luis in round 2. The matchup after that would be Mookie Betts and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Mookie would hit 11, and Vlad hitting 26, giving Vladimir the third spot in the next round. The final round of round one would be Pete Alonso vs. Julio Rodriguez. Pete would hit 21 and Julio with an outstanding record-breaking 41. Julio would face Vladimir in round 2.
For round, this would determine who advances to the Final, with Luis and Randy going first. Luis would hit a total of 22 and Randy a total of 35. Randy would take the first spot in the Final round. With Vladimir and Julio next up, Vlad would hit 21 and Julio 20. Giving Vladimir the final spot for the final round.
The final round would determine the winner of the 2023 Home Run Derby. Randy would hit a total of 23. It would not be enough as Vladimir would have hit 25 crowing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The 2023 Home Run Derby Champion. This would also be put on the record books as the first father-son duo to have won the Home Run Derby, with his father Valmiri Guerrero Sr. Winning it back in 2007.

The location for the All-Star Game is based on many different results and has to meet specific criteria for hosting the All-Star Game. A city has also to put in a bid to host the All-Star Game. The bid is the most crucial requirement as this is the only way for MLB to look at and consider the city as a place to host, with there also being if the city can afford everything that happens during the week. Money is a significant factor. Some other requirements that a city has to meet is having enough area to host thousands of people for a week. That includes seating at the said stadium, hotel/staying availability at the location, and the overall popularity of the city.
