With the start of the spring semester at College of the Desert, students should be aware of important information and upcoming events on campus.
Navigating campus on your own can be challenging, especially at the start of the semester. Fortunately, College of the Desert offers a variety of resources to help make your journey easier. From maps and shuttle information to student guides and events, these tools are designed to help you find your way, connect with the right offices and make the most of your time at COD.
Check out the MyCOD Student Portal to access essential tools, including student forms, Canvas, COD email, and more. Explore activities such as volunteering opportunities and school clubs to help connect with others and give back to your community. Check the portal regularly for updates on everything College of the Desert has to offer.
The Dreamer Resource Center provides support for all students, affirming that “everyone has the right to pursue their academic and career goals regardless of their national origin, race or creed, how they identify, or their immigration status.” Services include free immigration legal assistance, mental health support, scholarship opportunities, and more. Schedule an appointment in person or by phone. Office hours are Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. The center is located in South Annex 1 near Public Safety; refer to the campus map for directions.
Visit the Career Workforce and Solutions Center for career resources and guidance. Their mission is “to enhance student success by empowering students with the tools and skills necessary to be active participants in their career development.” Career counselors can provide services such as major exploration, résumé writing, job research assistance, and more. Students in their second year and beyond can receive guidance on internships and job opportunities. Office hours are Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Schedule an appointment online, in person, or by phone.
COD student-athletes are putting in strong efforts this season. Show your support by attending games whenever possible. Supporting local athletes helps build a successful athletics program and makes COD proud. If you are graduating this semester, you can visit the Student Transfer Center to schedule a counseling appointment and learn more about the transfer process to a four-year university. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Apply for graduation before April 15 to guarantee your degree for the spring semester and participate in the ceremony.
College of the Desert is celebrating Black History Month with events every Wednesday in February. On Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m. in the Cravens Multipurpose Room, Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley will participate in a 45-minute Q&A panel. COD TALKS: Palm Springs in Colour will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 2:30 p.m. in the Cravens Multipurpose Room. This event highlights the everyday culture of people of color in Palm Springs.
